Lorne Station is situated on 10,000 acres in New South Wales, Australia - just minutes from the town of Lightning Ridge. Lorne Station is one of the only working stations in the area that provides tourist accommodation. You can enjoy a true outback experience at this quiet and scenic holiday retreat.

We do not take credit card details over the Internet, the details we capture via email is used simply to collect your contact details so that we can contact you personally to arrange payments and the finer details of your trip with us.

    Although miners have a pretty keen eye for opal, it is very easy for them to miss a chunk.This is where you as the fossicker and noodler can search for the elusive gem.
  • Demonstration using our opal cutting & polishing wheels explaining the processes involved.
  • Bring your push bike and explore our historic property.
  • Spot the koalas, kangaroos, emus and various lizards.
  • Cheap as chips. Lucky dips at the Lorne Station Office.
  • Catching yabbies for dinner. These are very tasty, blue claw yummy yabbies and cook them on our open camp fire. Christine's tip: Try them with chili and passion fruit dipping sauce. Did you know yabbies are also referred to as crawchies, lobbies?
